WEEK IN REVIEW

Where to start…. Well, I tried updating my blog on Sunday after the shower and the internet went down. And the internet has been in and out all week.
Saturday was a blast! We had so much fun with the people who have taken us in as family/friends in Monticello. We got some great gifts from some great people on top of the fun time! We wish some of our other friends could have been there too, but everyone lives so far away! They will be there for the most important day which is 52 days away!!! That is all that matters!
Sunday was a busy day. We got up and drove to Macon to do some shopping. We needed things for us and I had to get some stuff to complete Brittney’s baby shower gift from Mrs. Debby and me! I am making something really cute for her and I hope she likes it! As soon as the shower is here, I will put pictures of my creation on here. We met Greg, Heather, and the kids at Olive Garden for lunch. We haven’t seen them since spring break. Lunch was really good but we didn’t get to stay and chat long because Heather had a meeting and I had a wedding shower to go to. When we got home from Macon, Kyle’s parents were at our house. I ran in and spoke and went to Eatonton to the shower. His parents came down for his surgery that was on Monday. I was nervous about it.
Monday morning, we got up at 5:30 to get ready to go to Macon for his surgery. This procedure was the lesser of the two procedures to get rid of the cancer. They had to do 2 cuts to get it all…but they did get it all!! They also told him no radiation this time!! That was good news. We thought that they would close the hole up on Tuesday, but the plastic surgeon could not close it until Wednesday. So, Tuesday I went back to work. I was exhausted and I am getting a cold. My kids were glad to see me which made me happy! The day was long and I was ready to be at home. When I got home it was time to get ready for Wednesday and surgery again.

Wednesday was a long day. We arrived at the hospital at 11:30 to do pre-addmission testing. As soon as that was over, we went straight to the day surgery wing of the hospital. They put us straight in a room to get him ready. The nurse came in around 1:15 to get the IV started and begin the fluids. About 1:45 the nurse came to take him to the holding area for the OR. Then the waiting began. This was the hardest and longest time of my life. Around 3, the phone in the room rang and they told me he was still in the holding area...had not been to the OR yet! So, all that time that we had been waiting was really for nothing. Again the phone rang at 4 and they told us he was in the OR and he was doing fine. So, the wait began again. The doctor came to the room around 5:30 to tell us how the surgery went. He did great. They opened the old scar and pull the skin to cover the hole. So, no skin graft and no new scar. (Not that I would care! I just care that he is here!) The doctor told us he would be in recovery for about an hour and a half. Well, at 8 pm(2.5 hours later) I was finally able to see him and bring him home. He slept most of the night, but the time he did get up so did I just to make sure he was ok. So, not a lot of sleep! But I stayed home today with him and we both rested! He is doing great! Not in a lot of pain. I guess I will go back to work tomorrow....2 out of 5 days this week, thats not too bad!

Hope everyone had a wonderful week!

TGIF

I am so glad today is Friday!! School was wild....the kids were wild all week but especially today! After school, Kyle had a baseball game against Putnam County. WE WON!!! He is undefeated against Putnam! We had all intentions on going to BoJo's ( a small restaurant in Milledgeville) but we were both tired and hungry so instead of waiting the hour it would have taken to get there and all....we went to our mexican restaurant, El Giro...aka, Mexico! It is not the best mexican but it will do. It was nice to have a quiet dinner out together. Usually when we go to Mexico, we have a group and at home the dogs are constantly barking and trying to get our food. It was nice to have a dinner, just us! We came home and watched Grey's Anatomy....I cried! It was so sad! I cannot imagine losing a child! I hope and pray that when Kyle and I have kids, they are healthy because I am not sure that I am strong enought to go through what that man and so many people have gone through.

Tomorrow is a busy day...nails, hair, couple's shower with GREAT friends and family! I'll post pictures from the shower this weekend!

Have a WONDERFUL Saturday!

WHAT A WEEK!!

I haven't blogged since Monday and it has been a crazy week!

Tuesday, school was school! CRCT testing started so I had to keep my kids extra quiet while that was going on. Keeping them quiet in general is a challenge! After school, I had to go to Eatonton again to take my dress and get it altered! It only needed to be taken up in the from about an inch so I don't trip. We all know I will not be wearing heels to the wedding! I cannot wait to put pictures of my dress on here! Keeping Kyle from seeing it is not easy! I always ask his opinion on how something looks on me....and this time, the most important time...he can't tell me! When I got back to town, I went to Kyle's baseball game. They were playing a double header (and the won both...YAY!!) so I got to see the whole second game. Then it was home to cook dinner for us...enchildas! YUMMY!!

I LOVE MY COACH!!! =)

Wednesday, I felt like it should be Friday already! Again, had to keep kids extra quiet due to testing! I did accomplish a few things today....choreographer booked for my varsity squad and had a meetng with the senior girls. The meeting was better than I expected....I was expecting drama but it wasn't too bad. After the meeting...guess where I went....the baseball game. This is the story of my life as a "Coach's wife"...well almost! I love my life! They won again...this win brings them closer to 2nd place in the region!!! Again, I came home after game and cooked dinner...chicken fajita nachos...YUMMY! Then it was bath time for Sadie. Speaking of Sadie, she had been doing really well but she has lapsed lately. We are not sure why. We think she may be mad at us because we keep leaving her here long periods of time due to work and games. She has been pooping in the house more and not sleeping good....wakes up barking before its time to get up! I'll be glad when summer is here and we can spend more time with her and Daisy!

Here is my sweet Daisy!!

Here is our little pooper!!! Look at that face!!! =)

Thursday, today was the last day of testing...thank goodness! I will have my parapro back tomorrow and the kids don't have to be SO quiet! Yesterday a teacher brought us tadpoles because we are studying ponds and frogs this week. Well, first thing this morning, my kids noticed that one of our tadpoles has 4 legs! So, all day they wanted to check on our tadpoles! Today was the only day that I did not have something to do after school. So, I came home and counted money for Relay for Life and played with our puppies! I am headed to the back porch now to clean up and go through some of my junk to get rid of. Kyle is at practice...game tomorrow! Supper is already done....I cooked chicken and rice and it has been in the crockpot all day! It smells so good! If you didn't notice, I cooked supper every night this week....Kyle is taking me out tomorrow night after the game!

I hope everyone had a great week! I will post pictures this weekend from a couple's shower that our AMAZING friends from Monticello are throwing for us Saturday night!

Typical Monday

Why is it that on the day you have so much to do....things seem to go wrong??

Today at school was not too bad....just a typical Monday! Had 8.5 million things to do this afternoon. Got most of them accomplished so far, still a lot to do at home. I am a teacher and it is still 6 o'clock before I get home....I thought teachers got home early from work! HA! I am finally home and I have a terrible headache. The dogs are chasing each other around the house barking which is not helping my head! I'm cooking my man dinner while he is at practice! I'm ready for him to be home so he can handle these wild dogs while I try to get my headache to go away!

Hope everyone had a great Monday!!

P.S. Kyle and I are getting married in 2 months!!!!!!!!! YAY!!! I'll be Mrs. Gourley!! =)

This is my wedding set! It came in the other day! I cannot wait to wear this all the time!!

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY

What a busy weekend! Friday was wild at school! Getting ready for CRCT at the primary school and the kids are wild! My kids don't take the CRCT but they are just as wild and keeping them quiet during testing time will be a challenging task. After school, Kyle had a baseball game. The game did not last very long (they lost pretty bad unfortunately)! I'm still proud of him as a coach....I will always support him no matter what! After tha game, Kyle and I went to dinner and trivia with Heather, Paul, Alecia and Andy. Our team, the "Puddin Pops" did not do so hot at music trivia...but we had fun as always!

Saturday morning came and staying in the bed sounded like the best plan! Kyle had a double header and I had plenty to do. After a quick trip to Eatonton, I went to the recreation dept for opening day. Saw a lot of students, which they think is the best thing ever! I didn't get to stay long because I had to go to Brittney's baby shower. That was a lot of fun and she got a lot of good stuff that she will need! Wasn't home long before Kyle got home. We were going to go to the movies, but we decided to stay here. We rented a couple of movies. We watched "No Country for Old Men" first and it was weird. I didn't really understand it! Then we watched "Marley and Me". I cried....of course! It was such a good movie.....it was sad though! I told Kyle we cannot have kids and dog's cause I could not handle them losing their pet! We probably will have both at some point....especially since we want to start soon.

Sunday was just as busy as the rest of the weekend. We went to church and came straight home. We drove to Eatonton with both dogs and ate lunch with my parents. That was fun! We have not seen them a lot lately cause we have been so busy. Then we went to my house and got the LAST load! Everything is out and it is listed with a realtor now! Hopefully it will sell soon....KEEP OUR FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend! It's back to work tomorrow!! 5 weeks of school left!

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Today was not as eventful as yesterday....but there is always something! I did good today...only cried once when I was talking to Mrs. Cindy. She made me recite out loud, "It's going to be ok!" before i could leave her office. She helps keep me going! This week at school, my kindergarteners and I are making pet rocks....they think this is so cool! Tuesday, we painted them and today we were giving them character. Well, while adding some eyes to a kids rock, I accidently glued the eye to my finger instead of th rock. Why is that such a big deal you ask? I was using hot glue! So, now, my finger has a blister on the tip and I can barely hold a pencil. What a way to end a school day! After school, my 20 Varsity cheerleaders for next year came to my classroom to be fitted for uniforms. This went by fairly quickly. There is drama already....whoopee. :/ I wish girls didn't have such attitudes or I was allowed to slap one every once in a while! Enough about that!

I just got home from the school and I'm waiting for Kyle to get home from practice...he was supposed to have a ball game but it was cancelled (YAY!!!) so he will be home much earlier than planned! I plan on spending the evening with him and finishing up invitations! I hope to mail them out by the end of the week...which is tomorrow! Be on the lookout for your invitation in the mail!

I LOVE HIM! =)

Hope everyone had a wonderful day and has a wonderful evening!

Wednesday, April 15, 2009

This is my first blog. Seems like everyone is doing it....so I thought why not?!?! This will be a great way to vent and get thinks off my mind and chest.

Today has been a rough one. Kyle went to the doctor for the results of his test today. He found out that his cancer is back. Those of you who don't know, Kyle had Basal Cell Carcinoma two years ago on his face. He had surgery and did radiation in 2007. He has not had any problems since then. About 2 months ago, a place came up on his face and we thought he had just scratched himself. He already had an appointment for a check-up with the doctor who did his surgery last time. When the doctor saw it, he said "it was more than likely the same thing." So, the did a biopsy and the doctor was right. I found all this out at school today because he would not let me go with him...HARD HEADED MAN!!! He is having surgery April 27. Please keep him in your prayers. I know that everything is going to be ok and we will make it through this. I am just tired of hearing the words...."I have cancer!" I have heard those words too many times in my lifetime. I also ask that everyone support your local Relay for Life. If you are not currently involved in a relay, PLEASE try to get involved. I would love for a cure for cancer to be found in my lifetime!

All of the above evolved around lunch time....needless to say, my lunch was not eaten. After lunch, I was sitting in the office, talking to a friend (I had to get out of my classroom. I didn't want to cry in front of the kids). Well, the phone rang, so I answered it....at the primary school, everyone has multiple job titles. As I was hanging up the phone, this child comes in asking for the nurse (who was at lunch). He said his teacher thought he had a fever, so, I took his temp....no fever. He then proceeded to tell me that he "thinks his teacher thinks he has a fever because he has stress. A little girl in my class is causing me stress. She won't leave me alone." I asked, "Did you tell your teacher she is giving you stress?" His response, "No, it just started at lunch." I am biting my tongue at this point so I don't laugh in his face. I tell him he doesn't have a fever, to go back to lunch and tell a montior that he needs to not sit by that little girl. About that time, the assistant principal comes out of her office and asks what I'm doing. I'm thinking, "Great, she thinks I'm not doing my job." No, that wasn't it at all.......she needed me to witness something......a paddling!!! All of these activities at school helped get my mind of the matter at hand.

Life is GREAT and I am so in love! Kyle and I will make it through this with the help of our friends, family, and GOD!!
